Gwanishi to Shamwari

A taste of the stage

The racing part of the stage is relatively short, however the 33km liaison (albeit not at speed) still poses a challenge. Riders must complete the full 109km for the day. Riders are encouraged to spin the legs out, soak it all up and enjoy the 'gravel safari'. The stage opens on tar before turning onto gravel through Kommadagga, with a river crossing, the Toyota Power Climb, with some fast, mostly downhill roads towards Alicedale and the finish at the Born Free Foundation. From there, after a biosecurity stop and a drink, rangers escort riders on the liaison into Shamwari Burn Camp – with 500m of climbing still to come. Liaison: 33 km | 500m climbing | 510m descending
