The fourth oldest town in South Africa, known as the 'Gem of the Karoo' Graaff-Reinet, was founded in 1786 and is the centre of the world’s mohair industry. Rich in history, it once declared independence three times and played a key role in the Great Trek. The only Burn Camp set in a town, riders stay at Union High School and dine in local restaurants. Nearby, the Valley of Desolation and Mountain Zebra National Park add natural drama to a place known for heritage architecture, museums, and a growing food and wine scene.
Graaff Reinet, Eastern Cape
A Gothic-revival centrepiece in the heart of town. Known as the “Groot Kerk,” it’s one of the country’s most photographed and most dramatic churches.

Blaauwater, Eastern Cape
Blaauwater Farms represents a series of firsts of the event. The Kingwill's eighth generation farm was the site of the first ever prototype camp, the scene of our stayover at the first Trial Burn test ride, the first venue to sink a borehole and build a reservoir and will be the only Burn Camp to host the race for two nights (with the Night Burn taking place on the first night).
