A taste of the stage

The first km across a dry riverbed is neutral before an 8 km narrow dual-track section — stay in position, you were seeded by GC, this isn’t the place to overtake, while enjoying the Esperant Game Reserve. At km 33, there is a fast 10 km wide Champagne Gravel section, followed by the spectacular Swartwaterspoort Gorge. Take care at the Blackwater River Crossing, where the riverbed is hidden — normally knee deep, but best walked. After passing through Alicedale, riders tackle three short, steep climbs with quick descents. Finally, enter Big 5 territory, keep an eye out for game, and ride The Gauntlet, a fast 4 km downhill. The last 2 km on windy dual track open up for the final sprint across the finish line of the inaugural Nedbank Gravel Burn, where medals, finisher’s t-shirts, and the Burn Party await!
